Baolin Temple on Baxiangshan (The Mountain of Eight Deities)_Title Picture
Songshan Village, at the suburb of Minxiong, occupies a large area that incorporates charming mountains and rivers. The villagers frequently have religious activities; in fact, the hill behind the village is called “The Mountain of Eight Deities.

The Mountain of Eight Deities was not dwelled by anyone until Guanmiao Master allegedly built a preliminary temple in 1960 after witnessing some signs of the presence of Buddha. A few years later, with aids from Miaoni Master and local villagers, the spectacular Baolin Temple was constructed. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, Baolin Temple houses around seven Buddhists nuns. The temple also welcomes senior volunteers to live there free of charge.

Xingding Master, the current host of the Baolin Temple, came from a wealthy family based in Chiayi City and made lots of donation and effort into the extending construction of the temple, leading to more followers coming to worship in the temple.
