The village close to the station was populated and prosperous. However, its heyday had passed after Alishan Highway was launched. Trains even stopped pausing at the station in 1982.
The wooden train station has been left unattended and abandoned for many years. Not until 2004, was the station renovated to recover the old-day beauty.
It was an important traffic spot for locals. Nowadays, it does not offer transportation service but the Japanese style building still attracts many tourists and even couples to take wedding photos.
“Luman Station” on the side of Alisha Forest Railway is also called “Lumachan Station”.
It is an Osaka style station and has stood here for centuries. It was built by using Chinese cypress with Japanese design to demonstrate ancient beauty silently.
