The Hueiyin (Echo) Valley is a beautiful virgin forest. As the name suggests, you will hear the echoes if you talk loudly into the valley. In the forest, you will see the following interesting spots. The Missing Maze consists of several inter-connected caves of difference sizes; the total length of the maze is 30-40 meters. The Parent-Children Hug Tree is actually two trees (“parents”) whose roots are connected together and whose stems are entangled; also, one little tree (“child”) is surrounded by the two “parent” trees, as though the child is hugged by the parents. Additionally, a 70-meter long suspension bridge hangs over the 40-meter deep valley. The evening sky of this area is dotted with not only stars but unforgettable fireflies.
Besides the forest trail stands a huge Stout Camphor Tree, which survived the massive logging decades ago. This tree is more than a century old; its waist needs several people to surround. Walking past this tall tree, you will see the 7-Step Echo Valley. This valley was considered a place of mysteries. There is a story that when some local people used to look for a missing child by shouting his name into the valley, echoes could be heard only within 7 steps. This was an mysterious phenomenon that gave the valley its name. Local people used to think that some spirits exist in this valley. Nowadays, local people no longer this that spirits occupy this place, but the tale has not been forgotten. Visitors would come and try to experience the echoes within 7 steps by talking loud into the valley.
