The earliest Wu Fong Temple was established in 1820 as known, and the inhabitants called it “Alishan Jhong Wang Temple”. The temple was collapsed in an earthquake in 1906, and rebuilt under the denote of the Japanese government in 1913. The 5th Taiwan Governor, Sakuma, was the officiant of the topping out ceremony. The temple was repaired again in 1931, at the same time, the worships hall, main hall, wings, and garden were enlarged. When the construction was finished, the 14th Governor Ota himself came to worship. After the handback of Taiwan, the temple was repaired many times. A showroom and a tablet pavilion were added. In 1985, when the temple was transferred to a memorial park, a back hall and wings were added.
The image of the entrance archway is staid with a gable of “five peaks risen to skies” style. Behind the gate, trees and a pathway take the place of a plaza for the emphasis on the memory function. Its worship hall and main hall are the major space for worshiping, the new wings are a reception room and exhibitions. In the back hall, a spirit tablet of Fong Wu is placed.
