The Osaka style wooden building has a skylight on the roof to dissipate heat and moisture. The tobacco roasting room and bamboo walls are protected. There are models and description signs inside to demonstrate how to process tobacco and introduce the plantation and making of tobacco plants.
Luman Villagers have begun to plant tobacco since Japanese Colonial Period. The yields of a 1/10 tobacco farm was the same as the yield of a rice paddy. Therefore, 60 hectare of land was used for tobacco planting at its heyday and it was common to see tobacco building in everywhere of Luman.
After Taiwan joined WTO in 2002, the Luman tobacco industry gradually declined. Tobacco buildings and warehouses were used less often and managed and finally abandoned and destroyed.
