The tobacco industry developed prosperously in Lu Man Community in Zhu Qi Township and there is a Lu Man Tobacco Growing Guidance area. Many tobacco growers raised fund to purchase a land next to Provincial Highway No.3 for the convenience of turning in tobacco leaves and donated it to Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation for building the Lu Man store. As the tobacco industry declined and Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation restructured, the land becomes the property of National Property Administration. Afterwards, the building has been left vacant and weeds grown riotously. Fortunately, many people has actively collected fund to keep the building and clean the surrounding environment in order to build Lu Man Tobacco Cultural Park. The Park is connected with Lu Ma Chan Station, Three Mountains Kings Temple as well as Man Zhu and Lu Zi bicycle lanes to allow tourist s to see the tobacco development history in Lu Man and infuse vigor to the local tourism industry.
The park occupies 0.8 hectare and is mainly composed of 4 buildings. 3 of them have stood here for nearly 6 decades. The buildings were used for the storage of purchased tobacco and parking of transportation vehicles and as offices. The internal roofs of 2 warehouses remain the wooden structure in 1951 and were built by applying the traditional technique of mortising. Hence, the entire park is full of historic atmosphere of the tobacco industry and Japanese architectural characteristics.
Nowadays, infrastructure has been built and several facilities have been organized, such as the gourmet street, folk cultural performance square, tobacco-related pieces showroom, Hakka cultural house, community billboard, restrooms and parking space. Lu Man is expected to become a tourist hotspot of the tobacco industry after the internal exhibits, displays, space planning and environment greening have been planned and enriched detailedly.
