Lioujiao Township of Chiayi County is a real town of garlic (suantou). Local garlic cookie has accompanied many people for almost 60 years! Therefore, locals believe garlic is not only condiment of cuisines but also represents hometown. Crust of garlic cookie is crisp and the stuffing emits garlic flavor, which is a good taste arousing childhood memory. So garlic cookie is also called “hometown cookie”.
“Lao Fu Zai” Wedding Biscuit Shop located at No. 33-2, Gangmei Village, Lioujiao Township, Chiayi County is initially founded by grandfather Huang Yu-Zhao (Hsing Long Firm) and operated under an idea of “good faith”. The second-generation successor-Huang Tian-Fu-is even more dedicated to establishing reputation of “Lao Fu Zai” Wedding Biscuit Shop. Many locals order biscuits here for wedding party. Every time Master Huang sees his cookies can communicate newly-married couples’ happiness, he feels his hard working is worthy. He believes his job is not only to make biscuits but also to pass on happiness.
After the third-generation successor Huang Qi-Yi takes over, “Lao Fu Zai” wedding biscuit shop sets up a branch: Polar Bear Artistic Bakery (No.1-3, Section 2, Chung-Shan Rd., Maliao Village, Taibao City, Chiayi County), which specializes in pastries blending the Chinese and the Western without loosing traditional flavor. As modern people more like light taste, Huang Qi-Yi makes great adjustment to proportion of ingredients, in hope of bringing gustatory enjoyment that is healthy and not greasy.
Along with existence of various kinds of bakeries, “Lao Fu Zai” Wedding Biscuit Shop hopes to maintain strong emotional links between three generations by means of Chinese-style cakes as well as spread good taste of happiness to friends and lovers around the world.
